Dear Parents and Carers
We have now entered 2018 and with that comes the next part of City of Edinburgh Councils informal consultation for the South West schools review, the workshops.
These initial workshops are for the parent body of children attending affected schools. City of Edinburgh Council Executive officers have asked that we invite 40 people to come to each workshop being held throughout the community.
The 40 people will work in 5 groups of 8 aided by facilitators to review the current changes to the catchments and all that this brings with it.
It will be very important that all of these workshops are well attended to ensure the communities affected can shape this review.
Currie Community High School have two workshop dates on Tuesday 30th January at 6.30pm and Wednesday 7th February at 7.00pm both held in the school.
If you can attend, please send an email by the end of Sunday 28th January firstname.lastname@example.org indicating which evening you would prefer. There will be no need to respond if you have already been contacted by us. I will send out a pack of information before the workshops
Please only respond if you have children currently at Currie High and only one parent or carer per family should attend the workshops. If you have attended or are intending to go to one of the Primary School workshops then you should not attend again. The format will be the same for all workshops.
We request that all attending familiarise themselves with the details of the council’s proposals and the impacts that these will have of the affected communities before attending the workshops. The proposals that the councils have put forward, along with some supporting material, can be found on their website at the following link. http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/info/20263/edinburgh_schools_review. In response to the initial feedback, the council have also proposed 3 further options for consideration at the workshops:
- Rebuild all 3 current sites
- New school Muirwood Rd (no mention of catchment)
- Merge Balerno HS and Currie HS on one site at CURRIE
In addition, CCHS Parents in Partnership developed and agreed our alternative proposal for discussion at the EGM on Thursday 11th –
Proposal – Build a new school on the existing CCHS and Woodland joint campus site
More details of this will be distributed nearer the workshop dates
