Do we have a new member of the Scottish Youth Parliament in our school or community? Nominations to stand for election are now open, closing on Monday 26th November 2018. Any young person aged 14-24 can nominate to stand by registering their interest by emailing email@example.com After expressing their interest, the potential candidates will be invited to a meeting to find out more information and confirm whether they wish to stand for election.
Standing as a candidate is an opportunity for young people to make a difference in their local area and ensure their voice is heard by Scotland’s decision-makers. Training and support is provided to Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYPs) to build their skills and confidence in decision-making, debating, leadership, consultation and group work. There are three national residential sittings per year (in various locations across Scotland) as well as ongoing support and local meetings.
If you’d like to develop your skills, confidence and meet new people whilst representing young people’s views, please get in touch with Jade to find out more about the election process.
Remember, nominations close soon. If you have any queries regarding any aspect of the SYP election process, please contact Jade Mooney (firstname.lastname@example.org), based in the Communities and Families Strategic Youth & Children’s work team.
