Have a say in how our local community will be developed over the next few years

OUR PENTLANDS

Do you live, work or play in PENTLANDS?
Do you come here to use a local service?

If so, we’d like to hear from you…

Why Pentlands? And why now?

In the coming years, we have ambitions to replace both Currie and Balerno High Schools under our Wave 4 schools investment programme. The replacement of Currie is our top priority, representing an investment of around £40m.

Our vision is to create community hubs within our learning establishments, in partnership with other community organisations, that provide a focal point and facilities that encourage greater local community activity. We want to bring residents, the local business community and smaller organisations together to improve the quality of life in the area.

The local community already has access to a range of facilities within our local schools. But are residents’ needs being met? Could local services be delivered differently and more efficiently?

How?

We aim to spend the next few months gathering information on how services are delivered in your area and what facilities are required to support future service delivery. We would like to hear your stories and experiences of living, working and playing in this community.

We plan to carry out a number of community engagement events, starting with a:

Coffee and Cake launch event
Wednesday 19 June, 9.30 am start to 12.00 noon – Currie Community Centre

The event will allow you to learn more about the ‘Our Pentlands’ project, meet the team and, most importantly, have your say!

Over the summer we will:

  • carry out a number of 1:1 interviews
  • set up on-line questionnaires; pop up interactive displays; and
  • seek feedback from service-users through relevant third sector organisations.

Having gathered your feedback, ideas, and priorities, we’ll then develop a range of proposals for further discussion with the local community. We want to find solutions that best meet Pentlands’ needs – both now and in the future – so please take this opportunity to participate and give us your views.

For further information on the project, or if you have any specific requirements for the launch event, please email julie.duncan@edinburgh.gov.uk

We would appreciate if you could confirm a representative from your stakeholder group is available to attend this event.
