LGBT Support Services

  • Our Digital Support Services continue to run as usual. These include our Live Chat on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 6-8pm, which can be accessed via our website, and our direct support email on infobox@lgbtyouth.org.uk. The Live Chat service also allows young people to leave a message out of hours when the chat is not available, and a member of the team will respond within 48hrs.
  • We continue to offer one to one support to young people. At the moment, one to one support can be offered via email directly with a youth worker, or via Facebook. Young people based in Edinburgh wanting to access this support can email me directly, or they can also get in touch with infobox@lgbtyouth.org.uk and the team will forward this to me or our new Youth and Community Development Officer, Sophie Rolland. Please be aware that new service users will be asked to complete a short registration form and that procedures have been put in place to verify their status as a young person.
  • We have continued to run our youth groups via a combination of Facebook and interactive online tools, which allow young people to participate live in the creation of online resources, play games as a group and socialise. Our team is also currently working on the launch of an alternative platform where we will be running groups more effectively, and I will let you know when this is ready. Young people wanting to participate in any of our youth groups are advised to register their interest in the group of their choice via our website/youth groups/group of their choice. We will get in touch with them directly and ask offer them a short one to one session where they can get registered as a service user and verify their identity. Once this is completed, they will be able to access the Facebook group and participate in all activities.
