Dress down day on 24 March for Sports Relief. Please bring £1 along to dress in sporty clothing. The money is going to a very good cause and we want to do our part.




2 All Classes: EARTH HOUR 2018

WWF’s Earth Hour is the biggest movement to protect our planet. Last year, around 9 million took part in the UK alone. On Saturday, join the movement, turn your lights out and switch off the TV at 8.30 for one hour. What is your promise for the planet? Refuse plastic straws in your drinks? Refuse plastic cutlery?






3 S3 Only – Interested in becoming an S3 prefect?

The school is looking to appoint a number of pupils from S3 as prefects to undertake a range of duties that will promote the school, encourage responsibility, develop leadership skills and help with confidence building.


If you feel that you have the skills and enthusiasm to join the school’s prefect team then please submit an application form to Mr Farren or Ms Jordan. Forms will be available from the school office from Monday 19 March and need to be handed in by Friday 23 March.









4 S3 Pupils

Any pupil who would like to volunteer to help at the Open Evening on Tuesday 27 March – please see your mod langs teacher.  We still need a welcome team, helpers in the craft room and the cinema rooms. There will be a meeting for all volunteer helpers on Tuesday 27 March at 1.10pm in ML1.





5 S4/S5 Students applying to College (Tues/Thurs)

If you are selecting Edinburgh College in column D as one of your course choice options for next year, please attend a short meeting at 1.10pm on Thursday in the Community Lounge to collect information about the online application form. If you cannot attend the meeting, please see Mrs Paterson.






6 S4-S6 – Jobs Roadshow

If you are in S4- S6 and want to leave school this year then speak to your Guidance Teacher about the Jobs Roadshow next Monday 26th March for pupils interested in modern apprenticeships, training or employment. Letters are available from your Guidance Teacher and should be returned by Friday 26th March to Mr McKinney.

8 S6 Yearbook

Payment of the balance for the S6 yearbook is now due.  This is £18 payable by cash or cheque.  Envelopes to be handed in to Mrs Matthewson by Thursday 29th March.




9 Modern Languages Open Evening – Tuesday 27 March

Primary 7 and S1 young people and their families are invited to attend a FREE, action-packed family languages event hosted in Currie Community High School on Tuesday 27 March between 6.45pm and 8pm.


Come and discover some of the benefits of language learning through a programme of fun activities such as story-telling, song, craft and film.  Senior pupils will provide FREE refreshments during the evening.








10 Students interested in a career in Nursing

An information session is being held within the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh on Saturday 28 April, 9:30am – 3:30pm. This full day event will give students an insight into Nursing as a career.  Nursing staff will be on hand delivering presentations and practical workshops to students. Students who attend will receive a certificate of attendance to keep. This event is sponsored and organised by Vision in Kids (VIKS) charity, committed to improving career opportunities for school students. Please see your PSL to sign up as soon as possible.
