Health and Wellbeing
LThe Health and Wellbeing Faculty (Health and Food Technology and Physical Education) provides a holistic approach to student wellness. Guided by the principles of Curriculum for Excellence, the faculty aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and positive attitudes for a healthy life, both physically and mentally.
The PE department offers a wide range of physical activities and sports to promote regular exercise and physical fitness. This goes beyond just sport, focusing on developing personal qualities, confidence, and cognitive skills. The curriculum is delivered to all students in the Broad General Education phase (S1-S3) before progressing to SQA courses in the Senior Phase (S4-S6).
In HFT, we teach crucial life skills through practical cookery and, more theory based lessons in HFT itself. Students learn about nutrition, food safety, and contemporary issues affecting diet, preparing healthy and affordable meals. This hands-on experience encourages healthy eating habits that can last a lifetime.
The faculty’s mission is to inspire students to make informed decisions and build a strong foundation for their lifelong health and well-being.
