Social Subjects
and RME

Social subjects provide an overview of the world by studying human behaviour, cultures, and societies through subjects like history, geography, modern studies and religious, moral and philosophical studies. Wider curriculum offering in the senior phase also includes Environmental Science, Empowering Futures, Travel & Tourism, Criminology, Sociology, Philosophy and Politics. The curriculum helps students understand different times, places, and circumstances, develop skills like critical thinking and research, and learn to be responsible citizens.

  • Modern Studies: Analysing and evaluating the political, social, and economic systems of societies, both locally and globally.
  • Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies (RMPS): Exploring different belief systems, ethical questions, and moral and philosophical concepts.

Building responsible citizens: Students learn about their roles and responsibilities as citizens and develop a greater understanding of different values and beliefs

Understanding the world: Students develop an understanding of how societies, cultures, and environments are shaped and how they are interconnected.

Developing skills: The curriculum fosters critical thinking, research abilities, and the ability to evaluate evidence from different sources.
