Science

Science isn’t just a subject. It’s a gateway to understanding the universe — from the tiniest atom to the vastness of space. Science education is deeply connected to real-world challenges such as Climate change and sustainability, Health and wellbeing, Technology and innovation.

You’re not just learning facts — you’re preparing to shape the future. We aim to foster Scientific literacy, understanding how science affects everyday life. Inquiry and analytical thinking, Collaboration and creativity and Sustainability and climate awareness which is embedded in science lessons to support Scotland’s Net Zero goals

Students’ progress through levels before entering the Senior Phase (S4–S6), where they can specialize in subjects like:

Biology – Biology explores the science of life — from cells and ecosystems to genetics and evolution — helping students understand living organisms and their impact on the world.

Chemistry – Chemistry explores the building blocks of matter, chemical reactions, and the role of chemistry in society — blending theory with hands-on experiments to spark curiosity and real-world understanding.

Physics – Physics explores the laws of nature — from motion and energy to waves and space — helping students understand how the universe works and how technology shapes our lives.

Lab science – Laboratory Science introduces students to essential lab skills used in real-world scientific industries — from preparing solutions to using modern instruments and conducting investigations.

Scientific technologies- Focus on practical lab skills, chemical knowledge, and scientific thinking — preparing students for careers in industries like healthcare, food, energy, and research.

Assessment includes practical tasks, written tests, and project work.

And beyond that? Engineering, medicine, data science, space exploration and much more.
